Sustainability in packaging has moved from a nice-to-have to something customers actively check for before buying. A few shifts we’re seeing across the brands we work with:
1. Mono-material construction — dropping mixed plastic/paper laminates in favor of a single recyclable material makes recycling actually happen instead of getting rejected by sorting facilities.
2. Right-sizing — boxes built to the exact product dimensions instead of generic sizes cut down on both material waste and the amount of void-fill needed.
3. Soy and water-based inks — lower-impact printing that doesn’t compromise on color vibrancy.
4. Reusable structural elements — magnetic closures and ribbon pulls designed so the box survives being reused as storage, not just thrown away after one open.
5. FSC-certified stock — paper and board sourced from responsibly managed forests, verifiable with a certificate on request.
None of these require a complete packaging redesign — most can be introduced one production run at a time.
